Hurigny. Your small recyclables can be reclaimed for a good cause

The young members of the municipal children’s council of Hurigny want to raise the awareness of as many people as possible about the need for responsible behavior on the topic of waste management and energy sources. During the working meeting, they expressed their desire to organize a collection of eco-citizens.

Glasses, pens, batteries, phones, hats…

On Saturday, June 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., children will install large containers in the parking lot of businesses to collect small recyclable items such as glasses and cases, batteries, plastic or cork lids, cell phones, calculators, and small digital devices.

They will also collect used writing supplies such as ballpoint pens, fountain pens, markers, mechanical pencils, erasers, markers, highlighters and correctors. Part of the collection will go to charity.

These used supplies will be collected for recycling for the benefit of the Association for Neurofibromatosis and Recklinghausen (ANR), which funds neurofibromatosis research. As for the glasses and their cases, they will be given to the Medico Lions clubs.

Nest boxes to combat mosquitoes

To combat the invasion of mosquitoes, children will offer a nesting place for titmice and bats, which play a vital role in the ecosystem as natural predators of insects.

In fact, titmouses can absorb the equivalent of their weight in insects each day, and bats eat about 3,000 mosquitoes a night. Nest boxes reserved for Hurigny residents will be provided upon presentation of proof of address.
