Owners, don’t forget to update your change of situation. On June 30, at 11:59 p.m., the campaign to declare the property will end. This statement applies to all taxpayers who own – natural or legal persons – one or more properties. If you already made this declaration during the 2023 campaign and the situation of your property has not changed, there is nothing to do. On the other hand, if you missed the deadline last year – Bercy says this would affect about 17% of owners – or if your situation has changed this year, you will no longer be able to avoid this obligation.

Indeed, Bercy warned: if the information is not communicated in time, the tax authorities can intervene and impose a fine of 150 euros. “The same penalty is payable in case of omission or inaccuracy», details of the General Tax Code (CGI). We remind you that the declaration allows the administration to find out whether your accommodation is subject to housing tax from a second home or free accommodation tax. This is why, if you have acquired or sold housing, or if your tenant on 1 January 2024 is no longer the same as in 2022, you must report this to the tax authorities.

Electronic or paper declaration

There are two channels to declare your assets. First on the impots.gouv.fr website by connecting to your personal space. Then you need to join the “Your specific space“, then go to “Property“. If your situation changed last year, click “Occupancy Statement“Then”New situation“.

If you do not have access to the Internet, the tax authorities provide occupancy declaration forms, which you must then return to your tax authority or the nearest service area in France. Three pieces of information will need to be provided: your contact details, the address of your premises and the occupants of your premises.
